Lenin's Revolution is known as the October Revolution of 1917 or the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917. There had been another Russian Revolution in 1917 called the February Revolution, but Lenin did not figure in that at all. He rose to power because of the October Revolution.

The October (or Bolshevik) Revolution brought Lenin to power. The so-called Russian Revolution of 1917 consisted of two revolutions. The first one, called the February Revolution, resulted in the fall of Tsar Nicholas II as monarch of Russia. The second one, the October Revolution, resulted in the taking of power by Lenin and the Bolsheviks from the Provisional Government under Alexander Kerensky. The Provisional Government had been set up after the February Revolution until a Constitutional Assembly could be elected and write a new constitution for the country.
