Cowboys 90's. First team to win 3 superbowls in four years. Patriots did the same but won by field goals in all of them like pussies. Cowboys destroyed teams in superbowls. Bills 52-17,Bills 30-13 and Steelers 27-17. Also you can go all time. Cowboys have won five superbowls 27-10 against denver and 24-3 against Miami also the only team to not allow aposing team to score a TD. BOOM!

The greatest team of all time is a very subjective question. There are three different ways of answering this question, and ultimately there is no correct answer. I look at this question in a 3-fold manner. First - The greatest organization. Second - a decade by decade analysis, ie. the "team of the decade" argument. Third - Individual season greatness.

The Best overall organization:

One can look at the accomplishments of the organization as a whole, looking at a number of different factors such as regular season success, post season victories, NFL Championships and Super Bowl victories. Ultimately one has to ask - What is greatness? To me it is winning championships.

Since 1921 The Green Bay Packers have plied their trade on the Grid Iron. They have captured more Championships (13) and Super Bowls (4) in 28 playoff appearances (Two teams have had more post season appearances, the NY Giants 31 and the Dallas Cowboys 30) combined than any other team in the history of the league. The NFL even named the Super Bowl Trophy after the Packers greatest head coach, who happened to capture the very first two Super Bowl victories, Vince Lombardy.

I would argue that there are three other teams that could be considered for the Greatest ever. The Chicago Bears may have the most wins of all time (726) and the best overall winning percentage (.578), The Pittsburgh Steelers have appeared in and captured more Super Bowl titles (6) than any other teams and the Dallas Cowboys who have appeared in 30 post seasons in their 53 year existence.

Ultimately, its about winning Championships and that is why, in my opinion, the Green Bay Packers have to be considered the Greatest Team (so far- as the modern day philosopher and leader of the Clash Joe Strummer once said " The Future is Unwritten" so take heart if your team doesn't make the cut today, it could change!).

Team of the Decade:

The NFL has been in existence as an organized league since 1920. The NFL became the entity we know today in 1966, when the upstart American Football league and the National Football league decided to merge. Since then, we have had the Super Bowl, the preeminent sporting event in the world, or at the very least, in North America. This is known as the modern era, and where the "team of the decade" argument begins.

The 1960's: The Green Bay Packers: The Vince Lombardi led Packers were a powerhouse in the 1960's. Under Lombardi the Packers racked up three NFL Championships and won the first two Super Bowl Championships. So dominant were the Lombardi led Packers, the NFL's Super Bowl Trophy was named after the coach who captured the first two titles.

1970's: The Pittsburgh Steelers: The Steelers are the dominant team of the 1970's. They enjoyed more success than any other team in the NFL over that period. Led by Ironman coach Chuck Noll, who started patrolling the sidelines in 1969, the Pittsburgh Steelers captured 4 Super Bowl Titles, going back to back not once, but twice. NFL history is littered with the names of great Steeler players from that era, lead by the likes of Hall of Famers Terry Bradshaw, "Mean" Joe Greene, Lynn Swan, and the Iron Curtain Defense, no team has dominated a decade like the Steelers did in the 1970's (until the 2000 Patriots).

1980's: The San Francisco 49ers: Bill Walsh will forever be tied to one of, if not the penultimate, the greatest quarterback/receiver combinations in the history of the league. The Montana to Rice connection was prodigious. The Walsh devised West Coast Offensive was fast. It was quick. It was devastating to their opponents. Between 1980 and 1989, the 49ers made the playoffs 8 out of the 10 years. They won 4 Super Bowl titles. While there were other good teams in the era, none stand as tall as the San Francisco 49ers did.

1990's: Dallas Cowboys: "Americas team" has been a productive bunch since they entered the NFL in 1960. They enjoyed tremendous success in the 1970's, making four Super Bowl runs and capturing two Super Bowl titles. The Landry led Cowboys were a team to be reckoned with. They didn't let the foot off the pedal in the 1980's either, making the playoffs but never reaching the Super Bowl. The latter half of the 1980's were not good for the Cowboys. Their poor performance led to the dismissal of the only coach the franchise had ever known, Tom Landry. In comes Jimmy Johnson who orchestrates the Hershel Walker to Minnesota trade, one of the greatest trades in NFL history and a dynasty is borne. The Cowboys go on to win back to back Super Bowl titles under Johnson and added a third under coach Barry Switzer to nab three titles in a four year span - an NFL First. The Cowboys were led by the Hall of Fame Triplets - Aikman, Smith, and Irvin - one of the greatest offensive triads ever assembled in the NFL.

2000's: Your New England Patriots: If there ever was a sad sack team award in the NFL the Patriots would have been perennial contenders. One of the founding teams of the American Football League, The Patriots history has not been one of grid iron success and post season glory. It is a history of "could have, should have, and oh crap moments". Then along comes 1994 and Robert Kraft, who literally saves the team from moving to St. Louis. The Pats start to develop as a team under the Tuna, Bill Parcells and for the first time the Patriots start to develop an identity. In 2000, Kraft hires a guy named William Stephen "Bill" Belichick, perhaps you've heard of him? Also in 2000 the Patriots select in the 6th round, with the 199th selection overall, a skinny quarterback from Michigan, Tom Brady. The Patriots incumbent starter Drew Bledsoe goes down to injury (Thanks Mo!) and Brady steps into the starters role. In the ensuing decade - 3 Super Bowl Titles in 5 Appearances, and a 16-0 regular season. The Belichick/Brady combination has won more regular season games in the decade than any other combination in league history.

Single Team:

The 1985 Monsters of the Midway, The Chicago Bears? 15-1 and the most dominating defense ever? Maybe. But no.

The 2007 New England Patriots, 16-0 regular season, one fluke Super Bowl play away from a perfect 19-0? I would argue yes, being a Patriots fan, but ultimately I would have to say no. They lost.

The 1984 San Francisco 49ers and their 15-1 Championship team. Great yes, but the best? No.

But as I said, to me, it's about winning,

1972 Miami Dolphins stand tall as the only post-merger NFL team to go undefeated. Their record was an unblemished 16-0 after capturing the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl VII. It stands to reason that until they get knocked off their perch as the only post-merger team to go undefeated and win the Super Bowl, they have to be considered the greatest single season team.
