What is the history of strip clubs?

The most I know about strip clubs would be during the great depression and probably 30 years before that. They had places called **ore houses (Didn't know if I could say that). But what they were for was workers who had been working at plants and farms. After their week of pay was given to them they would go into town and enter the strip club and buy a woman for a set price instead of having to try to marry a woman and have to deal with an unknown amount of debt when they divorced the person. It also depends on where you are from. In the United States, Strip Clubs have been around since about the turn of century. However, they were not called strip clubs; instead they were known as burlesque establishments. In Europe, "Strip Clubs" have been around since civilization started but they were usually in arenas. A good place to start might be strip club list.
