  1. There were actually two separate revolutions that comprise the "Russian Revolution," the February Revolution and the October Revolution.
  2. The February Revolution began when some housewives got tired of standing for hours on line in the cold to get bread. They began demonstrating and then they were joined by some factory workers who had been laid off, and they were joined by some soldiers who were sick of the war and it kept growing and growing as more and more people came out to join in the demonstrations.
  3. Vladimir Lenin and his Bolshevik Party had nothing to do with this revolution. Lenin was in Switzerland and didn't even hear about it until it was over.
  4. The German government helped Lenin get back to Russia (and gave him quite a bit of money too) in order to help Lenin stir up trouble and maybe even cause a revolution so that Russia would stop fighting Germany in World War 1.
  5. The second revolution, the October Revolution, was not really a revolution. It was more of a military coup where the Bolsheviks, not the people of Russia, overthrew the government.
