In North Philadelphia there was a semi-pro football team called the Vagabonds. Their home field was the "Rec" (short for Recreation Center) located at 26th and Master Streets. They were part of the Delaware Valley Football League. I understand that they played till the early 80s. Philadelphia City Councilman Darrell Clarke quarterbacked for a time in the 70s. The Vagabonds were an institution in North Philadelphia for over 40 years. My name is Sam Weiner and I played for the Vags for a few years, my Jersey number was 74.
