On November 11, 1990, Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Derrick Thomas set the NFL record for the most sacks in one game. Thomas sacked Seattle Seahawks quarterback Dave Krieg seven times.
Bruce Smith with 200 even. Here is the NFL's records page on sacks: http://www.nfl.com/history/randf/records/indiv/sacks Though it's worth mentioning that Deacon Jones is reported to have 173.5 sacks unofficially which would put him third on that list. Jones played in 14 games seasons and before the sack was an official statistic. Of course, Jones also played before offensive linemen were allowed to use their hands like they are today.
The late Derrick Thomas of the Kansas City Chiefs holds the single game NFL record for sacks with 7 against the Seattle Seahawks in 1990.

Current record is 200.0 sacks by Bruce Smith, Buffalo, 1985-1999; Washington, 2000-03 David ``Deacon`` Jones has the unofficial record, he kept all of his sacks written down in a book he kept and had a total of I think 226.5 sacks
Linebacker Jason Gildon had 77 sacks as a Pittsburgh Steeler, which is a team record. Gildon finished his career with 80 sacks, picking up three more in his final season with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Through the 2006 season, that was Casey Dailey (1994-1997) with 28 career sacks.
There isn't really a record kept for fewest sacks in a season by a player, as there are thousands of NFL players who have not had any sacks. Michael Strahan holds the record for most sacks in a season, at 22 1/2.
