Bobby Orr of the Boston Bruins became the first defenseman to win the NHL scoring title with 120 points in the 1969-1970 season. He set the record for most points by a defenseman and remains one of the greatest players in NHL history.
As of the start of the 2011 season, that would be 34 set by Norm Johnson in 1995.
