If you shot the ball from inside the arch, you will get 2 points, outside the arch, 3 points, and free throws for 1 point each.
In basketball, free throws (ft) or foul shots are unopposed attempts to score points from a restricted area on the court (the free throw line; informally known as the charity stripe or foul line), and are generally awarded after a foul by the opposing team. Each free throw is worth one point, and normally more than one is awarded. The importance of free throws is nevertheless sometimes underestimated; games have been known to be decided on them, especially when the score is close. Teams who could have sealed the game on free throws can finish with a narrow win or even a loss because of failure behind the line.
3 Actually it is 5, the highest shot you can hit would be a three-pointer, but if you were fouled flagrantly, then you would get two free throws, and could have a rare five-point-play.

To get two points you could shoot a basket because one basket equals two points. Or two free throws.

Free Throw
not sure about college basketball, but the NBA it is 2 points per basket. if the shooter is fouled whilst making the shot he will then have the chance to make a free throw. if the ball goes in the basket then he takes 1 free-throw to make a total of 3 points. if the ball misses the basket then he takes 2 free-throws to make a total of 2 points.
In basketball, the free throw line is the line where the person throws the ball or dumnk the ball for 3 points ... it works the same for a faul too
At the end of 4 quarters, the team that has scored the most points (baskets, free throws, ect.) wins the game.
The basic rules of present-day basketball include dribbling the ball while moving, with players allowed to take two steps after picking up their dribble. A field goal is worth two points, or three points if shot from beyond the three-point line, while free throws are worth one point each. Fouls are called for illegal physical contact, leading to free throws for the opposing team if the team is in the bonus. Additionally, each game consists of four quarters, and teams aim to score more points than their opponents.
