37 players in England have the title of grand master and 57 have the international master title this is correct data from FIDE (as per putting this post up) some are inactive players but once you have the title you never lose it.
Bob Waterfield did it in 1945 as a rookie from UCLA. He was with the Rams at the time (they had just moved from Cleveland to LA) and they won the NFL title game against the Washington Redskins 15-14. Sammy Baugh of the Washington Redskins also did this.
Jeff Gordon did not win a race in his rookie season.

MLB considers a player to be a rookie if they have not had 130 at-bats or pitched 50 innings in the major leagues and/or have not spent more than 44 days on a 25-man roster for an MLB team. Players that are called up to the majors on or after the 1st of September do not have their at-bats or innings pitched count towards the 130/50.
Two Toronto Blue Jays players have won the American League Rookie of the Year Award. In 1979, shortstop Alfredo Griffin tied with Minnesota Twins third baseman John Castino for the award. In 2002, third baseman Eric Hinske won the award.
