Football boots can be stretched by getting them damp and placing them on a shoe stretcher. A shoe stretcher is a wooden model of the foot that can be adjusted to make shoes bigger. The football shoe or boot is made of leather which can be stretched if wet.

Who invented football shoes?

The modern football shoe as we know was invented after WW II.In 1948. Puma Schuhfabrik Rudolf Dassler is founded and the world is introduced to the PUMA Atom, PUMA's first football shoe worn by members of the West German football team.source: http://www.sneakerhead.com/sneaker-history-p1.htmlSee also: Football and Technology http://www.dpma.de/infos/fussball/wm2006_eng/technik/fussballschuh/fussballschuhe.htmlIf you have seen the movie "The Miracle at Bern" West Germany's secret weapon was a screwn on studs attached to sole. They could be changed prior to a game to suit the pitch condition. W.Germany won the World Cup Finals against a much superior Hungary. Hungary was good with dribbling and passing the ball around in perfect pitch conditions. In a pre-game press conference. W.Germany manager predicted they could beat Hungary, only if it rained.AnswerThe earliest known football boots were owned by Henry VIII. Who invented football cleats?

The earliest forms of Football (Soccer) boots were developed in the early 1800's in Great Britain. These were relatively crude boots which were often hard leather boots (similar to modern day Work boots) with studs affixed to the bottom. In the early 1950's, The Golden Team of Hungary had a boot based upon a leather dress shoe with studs on the bottom made for them by an Italian shoemaker. This boot was much lighter and more comfortable but left them open to injuries. This boot was then improved upon by Adi Dassler (Adidas) and developed into the first modern type of Football boot. I researched this as much as I could but there are various accounts of when the first modern day boot appeared.
