On January 29, 1987, the Yankees re-signed southpaw Bob Shirley to a one-year $500,000 deal after not tendering him earlier that year. Shirley was also known for being a prankster. In July of the same year, Shirley was Wrestling with Mattingly in the dugout. Mattingly ended up on the DL, and his career would never be the same. Shirley retired after the 1987 season with a lifetime 67-94 record and a 3.82 ERA.
