Yes, a number of such accidents occured, and indirectly spurred on the advent of the metallic-usually aluminum bats- standard in the Little Leagues-but it turns out one hazard door closing opens another- these bats produce a higher muzzle velocity to the Baseball- and accidents of their own, some fatal. ( owing to the higher impact velocity- a pitcher was hit by his own (Line drive) and was comatose for months a few years ago in Wayne, N.J.)

Yes, there have been instances where players, coaches, or spectators have been hit by broken baseball bats. Due to the speed and force with which a bat can break, it can cause serious injuries such as cuts, bruises, or even fractures. To prevent such incidents, baseball leagues and teams have implemented safety measures and guidelines for bat usage.
