NO. Cliff Stoudt, who preceeded Malone as Pittsburgh's starting QB, did play in the USFL after he was released by Pgh. He rejoined the NFL and spent several years as a back up with the Arizona Cardinals, before finishing his career with brief stints in Dallas and Miami.
