Maybe. He led the league in strikeouts from 40-43 in the late 80s to early 90s after lasting leading at age 34. It is possible that this VERY late career surge is due to steroids. Also, his velocity did steadily go down as he got old and he apparently perfected a 3rd pitch, the changeup in around 1987. So he might have been able to strike more people out at an advanced age due to a third off speed pitch. So take your pick on what theory you believe.
