Connie Mack was an unremarkable catcher in his player years, but after he quit playing he the became very remarkable manager. He spent like four plus decades as the manager of Philadelphia Athletics starting around the turn of the twentieth century until his retirement after World War Two. Philly won five World Series during his reign.
