William G. Morgan is the inventor of the famous game volleyball. He was born on 1870 in new York. Morgan atended the springfield college of the YMCA (young mens christian association) in massachusets where he became the direcyor of physical education. He felt he nedded to find a sport that suited young people a game less violent and less intense. That's when he invented the game of volleyball at first he named this sport mintonette. After watching a game Alfred S. Halstead re-named it volleyball as the point of the game is to volley the ball back and forth over the net. in 1942 he died and had an elementery school named in his honor.
