Joe DiMaggio played for the New York Yankees
Joe DiMaggio had a tremendous talent for baseball, and it sure beat working. It was also a great way to become rich and famous.
In 1949, Boston Red Sox owner Tom Yawkey and Yankees GM Larry MacPhail verbally agreed to trade DiMaggio for Ted Williams, but MacPhail refused to include Yogi Berra. Had the deal gone through, Williams could have benefited from Yankee Stadium's short right-center fence while DiMaggio could have thrived at Fenway Park with its Green Monster. If I'm not mistaken I think the deal was made at a bar and the deal fell through when the two sobered up in the morning.
DiMaggio played his entire Major League career with the New York Yankees. He did, however, play for the San Francisco Seals along with his brothers Vince and Dom, in the Pacific Coast League.
