For us muggles, the best goal posts I've seen have been created using a large bucket, a plastic pipe, and a hula hoop. The bucket was upside-down on the ground with the pie sticking out of the top through a hole. The hula hoop was then duct taped on to the pipe.
In Quidditch, there are two teams that compete against each other wile flying on broomsticks to score goals. There is the Quaffle-a large red ball which is passed around from player to player and is used to score goals. There are two bludgers which are used by the two Beaters of each team in order to try and knock players of the opposite teams off of their broomsticks. The bludgers are medium sized black balls that are hard and are "beaten" with a bat in order to send them flying around the field. There is also a Golden Snitch, a small, winged, golden ball that flies around the Quidditch pitch. The game does not end until the Snitch is caught and the team that catched the Snitch is awarded 150 points. There are three 'goal-posts' that are high off of the ground, and for every time the quaffle is thrown through the 'hoop' the team that scored is awarded ten points. Each team consists of two beaters, who control the bludgers; seven Chasers, who try to score goals with the Quaffle; and there is one Seeker who seeks for the golden snitch.
There are seven players on each team; One seeker, one keeper, two beaters and three chasers. The seeker catches the snitch. The keeper tries to block the other team from scoring a point. The beaters hit the bludgers. The chasers score the points.

It depends on the spacing of the posts and the shape of the field to be fenced in.If the field is 1 meter by 4800 meters and the posts placed 2 1/2 meters apart then you will need 3840 posts. If the field is circular and the posts placed 2 1/2 meters apart then you will need 98 or 99 posts. If the field is square and the posts placed 2 1/2 meters apart then you will need 108 posts.Any shaped field, therefore, will have between 98 and 3840 posts needed to fence it in. as the perimeter will be at least 245 meters for a circular field and as much as 9602 meters for a 1 meter wide field (assuming no part of the field is less than 1 square meter). All other possibilities will fall in between these two extremes.Note: by increasing or decreasing the distance between posts the number of posts will decrease or increase accordingly.
