It depends the Rams are 7-8 well the seahawks are 6-9. If the Rams win their out, if the Seahawks lose they're out. If the Rams lose and the Seahwaks win im not sure what the tie breaker is.
The Seahawks won their division because of a tie-breaker. They were tied with a record of 7-9 with the Rams. They went to the first tie breaker which was head to head but since Seattle won once and the Rams won once they go to the next tie breaker which was division record. The Rams went 3-3 in the division while the Seahawks went 4-2.
WR gets a tie catch.
Nope
(3-13) in division would be the worst record a team can have and still possibly make the playoffs. As of January 3, 2011, the 2010 Seattle Seahawks are in the 2010 NFL playoffs with a 7-9 record. Not only is this the worst record to make the playoffs, it is the worst record to win a division as well. Although, it is possible to have every team in a division go 3-13. 0 wins, 10 losses, and 6 ties (0-10-6) or 3 wins and 13 losses (3-13). In the first instance, every team in the same division would have to tie each of its 3 division opponents twice, and lose all 13 non-division games. All 4 teams in the division would then have the same record (0-10-6), and a tie-breaker would determine the division champ. In the 2nd instance, every team in the same division would have to split 1-1 with each of its 3 division opponents and lose all 13 non-division games. All 4 teams in the division would then have the same record (3-13), and a tie-breaker would determine the division champ.
Through Week 16 of the 2008 season, the Chargers are not in the playoffs. However, should they defeat the Denver Broncos in the last game of the season played December 28 they will make the playoffs as the AFC West Division champion. If they lose or tie, the Broncos will make the playoffs as the AFC West Division champion.
82 games unless there is a tie, 16 teams play in the playoffs
In hockey, there can be no tie. If there is a tie after regulation time, they go to a 5 minute overtime, and if it is still tied they go to a shootout until there is a winner. That is the regular season rule. However in the playoffs, there is no shootout but rather overtime until the tie is broken.
As of the 2008 season, since the NFL went to a 16 game regular season in 1978, that has happened only once. That was the 1985 Denver Broncos who went 11-5 but lost out in a tie breaker to the New England Patriots and New York Jets for the Wild Card playoff spots. 5 teams made the playoffs that season, the 3 division winners and 2 wild cards. The best regular season record to not make the playoffs was 11-1-2 by the 1967 Baltimore Colts. They played in the Coastal Division of the NFL and ended the season tied with the Los Angeles Rams. Coming into the final game of the season, which was against the Rams, the Colts were 11-0-2 with the one of the ties being against the Rams. The Rams won the season finale, 34-10, to win the Division. There were no wild card teams back then so the Colts didn't make the playoffs even though they tied for the best record in the NFL. No other team won more than 9 games that season. The 1963 Green Bay Packers went 11-2-1 and didn't make the playoffs, losing out to the 11-1-2 Chicago Bears.
No, there are usually tie breakers.
Better than some, not better than others. In 2008 they finished with a 4-12 record and were the 4th worst team in the NFL by record and tie-breakers.
It makes them look good.
