It is about a kid named Zach Harriman who's dad works for the president to kill bad guys. When his dad dies Zach wants to go to the crash site where his dad's plane crashed but his mom wouldn't let him so when him and his best friend Kate and him are going to the Knicks game he tells her he is going to the crash site and to go without him. He gets there and notices that it is almost fully cleaned up but after he walks around a little bit e sees a shiny thing and sees that it is a coin that him and his dad both carried around and when he picks it up he is met by an old man who seems to know everything about him. Then the old man leaves and he follows him into the bushes and when he gets out he realizes he is back in New York City. He looks at the time and sees that it is the same time as when he went into the bushes. This is impossible because the crash site is about 1 hour away from New York City. Okay, I don't want to give it all away but it's a great book. Read it!

Jason, Leo and Piper (3 fifteen year olds) find out that they're demigods (half god half mortal). Jason's the son of Zeus, god of the sky, Leo's the son of Hephaestus, god of fire and forges and Piper is the daughter of Aphrodite, goddess of love. Leo's mum died because of Gaia (the earth) and he's been an "orphan" on the run ever since. Piper's dad has been captured by a giant and he says that if she doesn't sacrifice Jason and Leo to him, he will kill her father. Piper eventually tells Jason and Leo this. Gaia has been asleep for ages but she is slowly awakening and bringing back the giants and the most terrifying monsters back from the underworld. Once Gaia is fully awake they will have no chance of stopping her and basically it will be the end of the world.

And now for the brief story:

Jason's lost his memory and doesn't know who he is or where he came from. Leo and Piper both remember Jason hanging out with them but that doesn't ring any bells for Jason, which sucks for Piper because Jason and Piper had just started being boyfriend and girlfriend. They find out that their Phys Ed teacher, Coach Hedge, is actually a satyr (half goat half man) and he gets captured by a monster trying to protect them.

Annabeth and Butch (both of them are demigods) find them and take them to camp half blood (a camp for demigods). Annabeth explains that her boyfriend, Percy Jackson, is missing and that the Greek gods aren't communicating to their children anymore. They soon find out why, Hera (goddess of marriage and Zeus' wife) has been captured by Gaia but they have no idea where. Jason finds out that Hera took his memories. Jason, Leo, Piper and a big metal dragon are then chosen to go on the quest to save Hera.

They meet many enemies and monsters on their journey. Jason starts to remember little thing piece by piece, but not enough for it to make sense to him. But for some reason he remembers the Greek gods and other similar things in there Roman name. On the way the metal dragon explodes into pieces. Leo is really upset. He asks his dad to take the dragon's metal head back to camp half blood. Along the way they find Coach Hedge and save him.

Jason finds his long lost sister, Thalia, and she tells them where Hera is captured. Before Jason, Leo, Piper and Coach Hedge save Hera, they go to the giant that has captured Piper's dad. They save Piper's father and bring him to safety. Piper erases her dad's memories with a potion her mum gave her and leave Coach Hedge to look after him.

Jason, Leo and Piper go and free Hera but they're too late to stop Gaia bringing her son, the king of the giants, back to life. The king of the giants fled in Hera's rage but they new he would be back once he was stronger and had more monsters to help him.

Hera only gave Jason most of his memories back. She said that he'd get the rest as time goes bye. He remembered that he comes from another camp for demigods, a roman camp, but Hera wouldn't let him know where. And he slightly remembers a girl that might have been his girlfriend, but he doesn't want to believe that it's true because he likes Piper.

They all go back to camp half blood and start to prepare a big flying boat that they can use to find the king of the giants and stop him. They will attach the metal dragons head to the front of the boat. Piper had been trying to get Jason to like her again and kiss her but it never happened. But she's not fussed, she'll just have to wait until the time is right.

They all gather around together and discus what had happened, everyone still doesn't know where Percy Jackson is. But they come to a conclusion: if Jason came to this camp with no memory, then Percy Jackson must be at the roman camp with no idea who he is.

Zach's Uncle, John, also knows of Zach's ability he tells him that even his dad had certain powers and he also tells him to not trust Mr. Herbert. Zach was in a conflict to choose who the person to trust was. As Zach investigated more and follow both, Uncle John and Mr. Herbert. He decided that Mr. Herbert was teaching him more techniques while Uncle John was holding him back. Zach's mom works for Senator Kerrigan, and they were having a speech in Central Park that day. Zach was backstage listening to the Senator speech, but as the scanned the crowd he saw a sniper aiming directly at Senator. He dove at the Senator just before the first shot rang out. Then, out of nowhere Mr. Herbert grabs Zach and moves him out of the way and tells him to always look out for the second bullet. Zach recognizes that Mr. Herbert was shot and just before he died he told Zach that he was his grandfather, which made no sense because his father said he was and orphan. In the end of the novel Zach sets his mind to take on all the Bads, and that from now on they should be afraid of him.
