∙ 12y agoWith a common emitter amplifier it's the emitter that is usually grounded.
If meant ac signal then it is grounded so that the reference voltage is 0 & we get +ve voltage.
It is best to use both, then usually grounded, then double insulated is just OK.
Although it is common to hear the term that one is being grounded for doing something wrong, it is usually unheard of that one would be grounded for life. There was an American sitcom television show back in 2001 that was titled "Grounded for Life".
