Both of these water activities are really fun and completely different! Wake boarding is not quite of a challenge, but you can do more tricks such as jumping the wake, butter-slides, 180, 360, flips, ect. But Surfing is more of a challenge to keep the board in the sweet spot and ride the wake.

The name for wakeboarding came about due to the nature of the sport. When breaks in the water occur, it creates tiny waves called "wakes." In wakeboarding, you are riding these wakes on a board. Hence, wakeboarding.

A wakeboard is a board that you can ride on behind a power boat. Wakeboards are similar to snowboards in design.

When you are on a speedboat it leaves behind a wake ( a small wave on the water). Wake borders are dragged by the boat on a broad and they use the wake to do tricks.
