It depends completely on the Paintball gun and how fast you fire it, if you keep it on between games, and the battery voltage and type. I would estimate a 9v in a tippman may last two straight days or so without firing.

Yes, you will have to replace the battery every few times out. The industry standard for paintball guns is the 9v battery.

edit: there are a few markers out there that use specialty rechargeable batteries but almost all of these markers are out of production now.

No. Electric markers require electricity to either trip the sear or to fire the valve itself.
