It really depends on what part of racing they are involved in. A groom certainly does not have the finances of an owner that has a barn full of well-bred, expensive horses. But at the top, the owners usually have money. Thoroughbred racing is a very expensive sport. It is usually exclusive to people with very 'deep pockets'. But with the advent of TV and motion pictures the 'King of Sports' can be enjoyed be virtually everybody.
