What are the three races in the Kentucky Derby?

"The Kentucky Derby" aka Run for the Roses- This race is the first leg and is 1 and 1/4 mile long (the shortest race of the three.) It is held at the The Kentucky Church Hill Downs Thoroughbred track in Louisville, Kentucky.

"The Preakness Stakes" aka Middle Jewel of the Triple Crown- The Preakness is the second leg of the Triple Crown and is held 2 weeks after the Kentucky Derby and is ran at Pimlico Thoroughbred track in Baltimore, Maryland. The horses must run 1 and 3/16 of a mile.

"The Belmont Stakes" aka The Final Jewel- This race is the third and final leg, and also the longest race any horse will ever run, a full 1 and 1/2 mile. This race is ran at Belmont Park.

The race horse Secretariat who won the Triple Crown in 1973 set a record time for each of the three races, including a WORLD record for the Belmont Stakes. Secretariat had won the Belmont Stakes by an amazing 31 lengths and with a time of 2 minutes and 24 seconds, gaining the title of the most amazing race horse that ever lived. In honor of his amazing abilities, a statue of Secretariat is built outside of the Belmont Park.
