Some people still say he is but now people are saying the widely popular race mare Zenyatta is better. Zenyatta was at 19 undefeated starts but lost by a nose to Blame in the Breeders Cup Classic 2010. She has only lost one race out of 19 starts and she is now retired and currently living at Lanes End Farm. Zenyatta was pregnant but didn't make it past her 40 day check.

Zenyatta is apparently fast & gorgeous, but she wouldn't come close to beating Secretariat in a race. Many think we will not see a horse of his caliber again - he was a PHYSICAL PHENOMENON, a racing machine. He'd fly past her.
As far as I know, Secretariat's jockey, Ron Turcotte, is still alive. I doubt that he is still a jockey though. Many jockey's turn to training after they retire their silks.
