No. He was put down on 10/4/1989 (he was born on 3/10/1970). He had developed "laminitis" - the same condition that killed Barbaro.
Sorry.
No, Secretariat (Big Red) was euthanized on October 4th, 1989 to spare him of the pain inflicted from being diagnosed with Laminitis, an equine foot disease. He was 19.
He may have died at the age of 19 but still here in 2011he is still the only horse that has won the Triple Crown since 25 years before Secatariat
No..Secretariat was humanely destroyed in October 1989, because of complications from the hoof disease laminitis.
He died at the age of 19 because he got put down because of a equine hoof diese called laminitis.but even still in 2011 he is the only horse that has won the Triple Crown since 25 years before he did
Some people still say he is but now people are saying the widely popular race mare Zenyatta is better. Zenyatta was at 19 undefeated starts but lost by a nose to Blame in the Breeders Cup Classic 2010. She has only lost one race out of 19 starts and she is now retired and currently living at Lanes End Farm. Zenyatta was pregnant but didn't make it past her 40 day check.
Zenyatta is LOVELY, BEAUTIFUL, talented, famous, much-loved (like Secretariat). However her race-times do not even approach Secretariat's. It's like comparing apples to Oranges. His Kentucky Derby and Belmont Track Records still are unbeaten! These are two of the three races in the Triple Crown, and are graded races. (A horse must qualify to run in the Triple Crown.) Zenyatta is apparently fast & gorgeous, but she wouldn't come close to beating Secretariat in a race. Many think we will not see a horse of his caliber again - he was a PHYSICAL PHENOMENON, a racing machine. He'd fly past her.
As far as I know, Secretariat's jockey, Ron Turcotte, is still alive. I doubt that he is still a jockey though. Many jockey's turn to training after they retire their silks.
Ron Turcotte was badly injured in an accident a few years after the magical Triple Crown of Secretariat. He was paralyzed from the waist down, and is confined to a wheelchair but always makes the rounds in Secretariat re-unions.
She wasn't co owner of Secratariat, she was Chris Chenery's secretary!! I believe that she passed a few years ago
No
Yes!
Yes, the horse is alive! Ya gotta love her!
The world's fastest horse was Secretariat. He won the Triple Crown 37 years ago and that record STILL hasn't been approached or beaten.Australia's fastest horse was Phar Lap.Hope this helps.
No, Secretariat passed away in 1989. He was a famous American Thoroughbred racehorse known for winning the Triple Crown in 1973.
No, she died in 1990
it was secretariat he was a famous horse that won the kentucky derby he also won the rose garland and you still can find horses that have his blood. by rancher girl

I am sure without any doubt that the world oldest living horse is alive. :)
ruffian because she won every race she finished she was in the lead by 1/2 a link on the race she did not finish she was the only horse to at each pole was in front and the only horse to make a minuse win pool, not even secretairat or man-o-war did all that did they? minuse win pool=getting les than what you bet instede of getting more
