If one is wishing to become a horse-jockey, the first requirement one must meet is weight, as jockeys do not weigh more than 116 lbs., generally speaking. Jockeys tend to be relatively short, as well, not reaching more than 5' 7". Most jockeys start out as horsemen or horsewomen, having lifelong experience with horsemanship. There are no college courses for this type of career, only dedication and equine knowledge.
