Yes, but probably not straight off the track (although there are some horses who could probably be ridden out between races). Some horses are ridden extensively as part of their pre-race training (trail ridden etc.) so may be able to be ridden sooner than another race horse with less "outdoor" experience. Each horse is different and may initially require a more skilled hand post racing or a period of letdown before retraining.
Any breed can be used for western pleasure, though stock horses are most common in any western competition. Stock horses are horses that were bred for working cattle and ranching, such as Quarter Horses and their descendants, Paints and Appaloosas. Arabs are also making a statement in he western pleasure ring, though they are ridden slightly differently.
Horses have lots of abilities. Some are to jump, race, pull carriges, & ever some are pleasure.
Yes, they are. Regular riding horses are ridden at atleast 3 yrs. From my experience. Riding horses too young weakens their bones.
Horses that are rode for pleasure are just that, Pleasure horses. This is not to be confused with English or Western pleasure show horses, they are two different things.
No, but he has ridden horses in movies.
Its ok if all the horses are not being ridden, but they will have to be ridden later.
By being ridden by (arguably) the world's best current jockey, and being faster than the other horses that day.
When they're about to be ridden.
Ruffian vs. Foolish Pleasure.
people have been horse back riding seance the 1900s and that is how long people have been horse back riding!!! People have been horseback riding for pleasure ever since it was discovered that horses could be ridden. Though after World War 2 the horse became more of a pleasure animal than a beast of burden.
Horses do not train horses, humans do. Sometimes the lead mare of the herd or the dominate animal will teach the horse respect and such, but as far as learning to ride goes, humans will train horses to be able to be ridden, jumped, lunged, ect.
no they have always ridden horses or something
