The highest GPA for a college or university is often referred to as Summa Cum Laude. Depending on the university, this honor is given to a select group of students who have either the top highest 5% of GPA's for their class, or sometimes universities have fixed numbers such as a 3.90 GPA or higher in order to receive this honor.
On a 4.0 scale with 4.0 being the highest, a 3.8 GPA is very good.
While it is good to be well-rounded for college (especially if you are going in for sports or applying for a sports scholarship), if you play three different sports, it may be hard to keep up with school work and maintain a steady GPA. You will need to learn to balance your schedule between school and sports, and always remember that your education comes first.
