Francis Marion University has produced a few players who have been drafted into the NBA, most notably John O'Korn, who was selected in 1987. Additionally, other players have entered professional leagues, but the number of those drafted directly into the NBA is limited. The university is more recognized for its overall contributions to college basketball rather than for a large number of NBA draftees.
The number 16 for the University of Michigan football team has been worn by several players, but it is most famously associated with quarterback Chad Henne. Henne played for Michigan from 2004 to 2007 and is known for his successful college career before moving on to the NFL. Other players have worn the number as well, but Henne remains the most notable.
Greg McMertry. He played for Brockton High. I believe went to Michigan. And was drafted by the Pats in 1990. Don't know what year he was drafted by the Sox though.:9/18/08 updated It was Greg McMurtry who was drafted by both the Patriots and the Red Sox. He was drafted (right out of high school) by the Boston Red Sox in the 1986 draft. He was the 14th pick of the first round of the MLB draft. He did not sign with the Red Sox, and instead accepted a full scholarship to the University of Michigan. McMurtry was drafted by the Patriots in 1990. He was a third round pick, 80th overall.
