Sovereignty, as the ability to control your own laws and commerce, is the basis for any political entity. To survive, a nation or state needs the recognition (internally and externally) of its own self-government. Solidarity as Opposed to Sovereignty Domestically, it is good for a country to have solidarity in which means "unity, community, commonality". No country can have sovereignty for that is a misnomer when used this way. It is just like "democracy", which was one of Socrates' inferior societies. Our country is a republic and not Jefferson's democracy. It is true that one man, one vote is democracy, but the electoral college proves a republic under ascension leadership. In other words, small groups elect leaders instead of the public enmasse. Sovereignty is for individual Citizens and not for inanimate things. The word "sovereignty" means individual human soul, not a country or thing. We use the term "sovereignty" incorrectly in referencing countries; solidarity should be used instead.
