If you don't have anyone to spot you, I'd advise using dumbells aposed to a barbell. If comes the occasion you've to complete failure and cannot lift the weights any higher. You can just drop dumbells, a bar bell could drop on your chest, neck or head. Causing serious injury or death. Try not to show off too much in the gym. Your results will show off for you.
