The question is actually invalid, because both Essendon and Carlton have won the most at 16 premierships each. Therefore, the next team will have won the third most AFL Premierships; and that is Collingwood. The Collingwood Magpies have won 15, but they have lost many more grand finals than they have won!
Essendon and Carlton: having each won 16/114 contested have the highest percentage of premierhips won, having been in the competition from the beginning.
Collingwood, which has also been in the competition from the beginning, has won 15/114 that have been contested ... and Melbourne 12/114.
So those 4 clubs, among them, have won well over half of all the premierhips so far contested.
Which AFL team has won 10 premierships

Probably the two teams that have been in the VFL/AFL from the beginning in 1896 and have won the Most premierships as well: Essendon and Carlton - with 16 premierships a-piece. Although some try to claim it, you also probably couldn't give it to the Brisbane Lions club, either, since it was really an outgrowth of Brisbane Bears which commenced in 1987, and which, in turn, was really an outgrowth of the Fitzroy Lions.
They play in the NRL - not the AFL. But they havent won any NRL premierships either.
East Fremantle with 29 premierships
no ... The most successful AFL teams are Essendon and Carlton, each with 16 Premierships
Fremantle- with none
Sydney Swans has won one AFL Premiership - in 2005. However, the club is the direct result of the 1982 relocation of the South Melbourne (Swans) Football Club from the VFL competition - the forerunner competition of the AFL, Sydney becoming the club's new home. South Melbourne Swans had won 3 Premierships before this move - 1909, 1918 and 1933. So the Swans are officially attributed with having won 4 AFL Premierships.
