Aberdeen last won a trophy in Europe in 1983. They beat Hamburg SV 2-0 over two legs in the European Super Cup.

Notably they won the European Cup Winners Cup the season before [ 1982-83], beating Real Madrid 2-1 after extra time, hence going through to the Super Cup.

The Super Cup is a match contested between the winners of the European Cup and the UEFA Cup.
