Muhammad Ali was drafted in 1967, which meant he would have been inducted into the Army unless he enlisted in the Marine Corps, Navy, or Air Force prior to his induction date. He did not, and in fact declared "I don't have no quarrel with those VietCongs."
no, he refused induction in 1967 when drafted (conscripted).
He refused to be drafted into the U.S. Military during the Vietnam war.

Muhammad Ali
He said that being drafted and fighting in the Vietnam war was against Islam.
Muhammad Ali, after changing his name from Cassius Clay, refused military service for philosophical and religious reasons.
Boxing! But seriously, you are probably thinking about the preacher Muhammad. If you put Ali at the end of that name, you are talking about the famous boxer. Back to the point, Muhammad started a new religion called Islam. Allah is Islam's god. He started preaching after the angel Gabriel appeared to him. He had many scholars, and after his death, they wrote about his life and preachings in a book they call the Qur'an, the Islam "bible" if you wanna put it that way.
He wasn't. On April 28, 1967, Muhammad Ali refused to be inducted into the army, even though he had been drafted. As a Muslim, he said he was religiously opposed to military service. He was convicted of draft evasion, and sentenced to five years in prison; but he appealed his sentence, and did not serve any time while the appeal was pending. Ultimately, his conviction was overturned, so he never went to jail.
Muhammad Ali's final fight was a 10 rounder against future WBC heavyweight champion Trevor Berbick. The fight took place on December 11, 1981 in Nassau, Bahamas. Ali lost a unanimous ten round decision.Read more: What_year_did_Muhammad_ali_stop_boxing
