Eddie Futch, Frazier's coach, stopped the the fight at the end of round 14 making Muhammad Ali the winner by TKO.

Frazier never forgave Futch (or for that matter Ali, for all the insults).

The Thrilla in Manila was the third meeting between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier.

They were one win apiece going in, and this one was the toughest of the trilogy, and neither figher was the same afterward.

Ali won by 14th round stoppage, as Frazier's Trainer Eddie Futch refused to let his charge out of the 15th round.

Frazier's trainer Eddie Futch wouldn't let his charge out for the 15th and final round because both his eyes were shut tight.

Ali's hand was raised in victory and then he collapsed on the floor from exhaustion. He went on to say that the fight was "the closest thing he knew to dying".

Frazier never forgave the revered Futch for stopping the fight and never forgave Ali for the remarks that were made.
