It depends on if you're looking for specific tournaments, or just background shots of styles, breaking, weapons styles, etc. You can usually get some good shots of both professional and other artists at Black Belt Magazine online,

They've been around for over 40 years, and they cover all styles, so there isn't much you can't find there. Copyright permission might be an issue if you want to use a picture though.
You can also find PA shots at the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) Karate sites, though you might have to look. If you want to see a good breaking shot, look at my bio page.

You need to win in your division in a tournament. You then compete against other division champions in your age group. If you win, you are a grand champion in that tournament.

Tournament rules vary by organization. Many of the organizations adjust the rules to meet requirements of international organizations. There are also insurance requirements that have to be met.
You do not play karate. Karate is a martial art. Today you can find karate studios or dojo in just about every city and country.
