Bonecrusher Smith was the first heavyweight champion (WBA 1986-87) that held a college degree. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Shaw University in North Carolina in 1975. Former WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko also holds a degree. He got his PhD in Sports Science from Kyiv University in Kiev, Ukraine in 2001.

John "Super D" Duplessis Lightweight and Welterweight contender earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology 2003 and 2005 went on to earn a Master's Degree in Social Work from Southern University at New Orleans.

A degree in the school of hard knocks? There is no pre-requisite degree to become a pro boxer, however, it may be recommended to get a degree before entering your boxing career incase it doesn't pan out.
