∙ 13y agoMartial Arts are not for hurting people. The martial arts build discipline and skills to defend yourself if attacked. You must get your parents and teachers involved in any bully situation. I suggest you look at taking martial arts to learn how to handle a bully situation. It will give you options and confidence that you can handle a situation without hurting someone. If it comes to someone attacking you then you will know how to handle it.

People who put you down are usually hurt themselves. It's no use sinking to those people's level. They will tell you put downs and insults because they are not confident themself but do not retaliate.

That is just a stereotype. Usually, when there is intimidation or an excessive use of force, it is the person acting out of fear or overcompensation for their insecurities. They often are outwardly tough, but inside, they often feel inadequate. Sometimes they are overweight, and they are teased about their weight, and they lash out using their fists or hurling insults. Plus bullying is not always one-dimensional and things are not always as they seem. Often, the bullies are victims of bullying or abuse elsewhere.
People tend to remember insults more than compliments due to the negativity bias in our brains, which makes negative experiences stick more easily. However, compliments can also leave a lasting impact, especially if they are genuine and meaningful.
