Boxing is a combat sport that utilizes several styles of punches and movements in order to best an opponent. In both amateur and professional versions, the fighters wear padded gloves, attacking only with the front of the fist. In professional boxing each round usually lasts for three minutes and there may be 4-12 rounds in a bout. The winner is the one who knocks out his opponent or is judged to be the winner at the end of the bout or if the referee or ring side doctor stops the fight. Boxing is also called Pugilism and prizefighting.

Professional Fights are 3 minutes long, per round with a short half a minute break between rounds. Amateur fights are generally 2 minutes long with a half minute break between rounds. Profesional fights are generally eight rounds, at approx 28 minutes, ten rounds, at approximately 35 minutes, or twelve rounds, at about 42 Minutes, in duration. Amateur fights, on the other hand, are seldom scheduled for longer than three rounds long which equates to about 7 minutes long. In the 1800's the sport was known as Pugelism and one of the longest recorded fights was between Andy Bowen and Jack Burke on April 6 1893 and lasted 110 rounds or 7 hours and 19 minutes! This practice has stopped and fights generally end after 12 rounds.
