Mike Hegstrand (aka Road Warrior Hawk) died on October 19, 2003 at his home in Clearwater, FL. It is believed that he died from an apparant heart attack. Mike was only 46 years old. He was buried in Seminole, FL on October 28, 2003.

Road Warrior Hawk and Road Warrior Animal were well know through the Wrestling world as the Road Warriors in WCW and as The Legion of Doom in WWF. Mike also wrestled under the names Crusher Von Haig and Hawk Warrior.

Anyone who followed professional wrestling at that time knows that the L.O.D. were work-aholics. They wrestled all the time and, obviously, when they weren't wrestling, they were working out with weights and practicing their craft. Hawk has stated that he used steroids. That places enormous stress of one's body. Unfortunately, Hawk paid the ultimate price for attaining and maintaining his fantastic physique. I wish him nothing but the best and know that he is free from the pressures of everyday life, dealing with unscrupulous promoters and being exposed to blood suckers.

His friends said that he and his wife Dale had recently bought a condominium near their current home and were packing their boxes the night before. Hegstrand said that he felt tired and went to take a nap. When his wife checked on him at about 1 a.m., he had died of an apparent heart attack. At the time of his death, Hawk and Animal were working on a book about their careers.
