Jack Johnson was the first black heavyweight champion from 1908-1915.

The first colored boxer was Joe Gans, Joseph Gant also known as"the old master" he fought from 1881-1909 as the first lightweight black boxer ever.

Perhaps the most famous black boxer was Muhammad Ali, who won the heavyweight championship three times, more than any other boxer. He is retired now.
