Yes, there are Taekwondo schools in the U.S.A. Some of them are independent schools, while others are backed and certified by major organizations. There are too many smaller organizations to name them all, and it would be biased to give a plug for just one or two. You can usually find schools listed in the phone book, or on the internet. You have the choice of a school that is affiliated with the World Taekwondo Headquarters in Seoul, Korea, or one that operates on its own authority. Conversely, the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) is not an instructional institution for Taekwondo, and you can not join the WTF as an individual or a school. The WTF is the sport governing body which currently regulates Olympic Taekwondo as authorized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
