Iaito are generally made of Aluminum, which is a very ductile metal, at least when compared to steel. This means that when the blades come into contact with each other they will most likely leave deep dents in each other, so the iaito will be mangled by the end of the sparring session. For this purpose, bokken or weapons made for theatrical reenactment are better.
