Another opinion:I can't tell you exactly why college players today wear t-shirts, but I can tell you how it got started. Patrick Ewing of Georgetown University started the practice. He used to catch colds, so he wore the t-shirt to keep warm. It has kind of become a fashion statement now, but that is how it started.
