Syracuse University is not currently a member of the Big East Conference. The school left the Big East in 2013 and joined the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Historically, Syracuse was a prominent member of the Big East, particularly in basketball, but its affiliation has since changed.

UVA joined the ACC on December 4, 1953 two weeks after the end of their 1953 football season. Prior to that, they were an independent between 1938-1953. Prior to that, they were a charter member of the Southern Conference, formed in February, 1921.
Southern Conference.Maryland played in the Southern Conference between 1922-1951 before joining the ACC in 1953. They played the 1952 season as an independent.
