AnswerDont know but you have been watching to much "water boy" lol AnswerYes, it is a field goal but it much touch the ground before it is kicked, in other words it isn't a punt, but the old bounce the ball off the field and kick it move, which can't be done with the current shaped football very easily.

A drop kick is still on the books as a legal way to score three points, or one point, in the NFL, depending on when it is used. If the drop kick is used during normal gameplay (downs 1 through 4), when your team has the ball, it is worth three points, just like a field goal. If, however, the drop kick is used after a touchdown, for the extra point, then it is worth one point, just like a point after touchdown. Quarterback Doug Flutie was the last NFL player to successfully score using the drop kick on January 1, 2006, when the New England Patriots played against the Miami Dolphins.
