There should have been no doubt for the 1942 New York Yankees that they were going to face a "red hot" team in playing the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1942 World Series. The Cards were on an unbelievable winning percentage at the end of the regular season. The Brooklyn Dodgers had a ten game lead over the Cardinals in early August. The Cardinals would overtake "Da bums" by going 43 -8 in their last 51 games. They won the 1942 National League Pennant from the Brooklyn Dodgers.As an aside, the Cardinals currently rank second to the Yankees in World Series victories.
