At one point, after Canseco became a 30 home runs- 30 stolen bases player the card was a very hot commodity selling for 30-50 dollars. Now, this card could probably be had ungraded for $1-$3.

Sidenote, most baseball cards, sets, and wax packs from the steroid era (mid late 80s-near present) have diminished in value greatly. The reason is that many of the star players from this era that were driving the record books and sets higher in value have admitted or are under scrutiny for steroids.

A lot of people have lost a lot of money investing in these sets and individual players.

For instance, the following sets and individual cards were once valued extremely high. It was not uncommon for Bonds and McGwire graded rookies to go for $500+. What a bad investment they ended up being. Nearly as bad as Enron stock.

1985 McGwire, Clemens

1986 Canseco

1987 Palmeiro, Sosa, Bonds

It makes the rookie cards of assumed clean players like Maddux, Griffey Jr., and Jeter a bit attractive as an investment as they are 1st ballot Hall of Famers and have not been linked to any illegal steroids.
