The Thurman Munson Award is presented by the AHRC-NYC Foundation to NYC athletes for their accomplishments on the field of play as well as for humanitarian efforts in raising money for charity in the community. The award is given out annually at the AHRC award dinner which in it self has raised money for 11,000 children and adults who have mental retardation, autism, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injuries and other developmental disabilities. The non profit organization is headed by Diana Munson, Thurman's widow.
